FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (1-2-2, 5 pts.) will close out a stretch of three games in eight days on Saturday with a trip to face Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (1-2-2, 5 pts.) at the new CHI Memorial Stadium. The contest kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET and is available nationally on ESPN+, and internationally on YouTube.
New England earned the first victory in club history on Wednesday night, defeating Greenville Triumph SC at Gillette Stadium, 1-0. Defender Ryo Shimazaki scored the winning goal in the 57th minute with an assist from Nicolas Firmino – both of which were firsts for their professional careers. Goalkeeper Joe Rice recorded his second clean sheet of the season, tying a career high with six saves and setting a new career high with his fourth appearance.
“It’s one game and I think it shows that we are competitive and can win games,” Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay said. “We’re going to take that and use it to help and kind of inspire and motivate us for the next game. It’s a good feeling to get the win and we certainly think that Chattanooga will be a difficult opponent, but hopefully this feeling will carry over to that game.”
Chattanooga is winless in its last three contests, most recently dropping a 2-1 result at home to South Georgia Tormenta FC. USL League One leading scorer Greg Hurst accounted for the Red Wolves’ lone goal in the defeat, his fifth in as many games this year.
