Revolution II Preview | New England continues road trip Saturday at Union Omaha

Revolution II | MIchel

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (2-3-1, 7 pts.) hits the road for the second straight weekend with a trip to face first-place Union Omaha (4-1-2, 14 pts.) on Saturday night. The USL League One contest is slated to kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET and is available nationally on ESPN+.

Revolution II is coming off a 3-2 defeat last Saturday at Richmond Kickers. Defender Pierre Cayet and Revolution Academy midfielder Noel Buck (2005 – Arlington, Mass.) each tallied their second goals of the season. First-team players Brad Knighton, Christian Mafla, and Edward Kizza all saw action for Revolution II in the contest, with Knighton making four saves and Mafla turning in his first 90-minute performance of the season. Kizza, a University of Pittsburgh product, earned his first professional start in the last match to go with his five substitute appearances in MLS thus far in his rookie campaign.

Revolution II holds a 1-1-1 record against Omaha as the two 2020 USL League One expansion sides prepare to close their season series. In New England’s lone trip to Omaha last September, Justin Rennicks scored an 11th-minute goal, his first of four career goals with Revs II, to help the club capture a 2-0 victory for its first-ever road win.

New England and Union Omaha met for the first time this season on May 12 at Gillette Stadium, with the visiting Owls earning a 1-0 victory on a late winner from Greg Hurst. Last Sunday, Omaha snapped a three-game winless run with a 2-1 victory over Forward Madison FC on the road. Emir Alihodžić scored the winning goal early in the second half to power the Owls into first place.
