FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (February 21, 2024) – New England Revolution II have signed midfielder Gevork Diarbian and forward Liam Butts to MLS NEXT Pro professional contracts ahead of the 2024 season.
Diarbian, 22, returns to the Revolution after graduating from the club’s Academy in 2019. The Cranston, R.I. native spent four seasons at Providence College where he tallied 12 goals and 17 assists in 64 matches played for the Friars, earning him three consecutive All-Big East Second Team honors in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The midfielder also played six matches for USL League 2’s Vermont Green FC last season, netting four goals and two assists across 477 minutes.
Butts, 23, graduated from Penn State in 2023 after scoring 25 goals and eight assists in 72 games through five seasons. The striker was named to the second team All-Big Ten in his senior season after recording seven goals and three assists in 13 appearances. Competing with Revolution II as a trialist during preseason, Butts scored the opening goal in New England’s 1-1 draw against Orlando City B on February 10 in a preseason friendly.
New England returned to Foxborough this week to continue preseason training ahead of the MLS NEXT Pro season. Revolution II begins its regular season on March 24, hitting the road to take on Philadelphia Union II at 3 p.m. at Subaru Park.
