FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has loaned forward Jerry Bengtson to Argentina’s Belgrano in the Priméra Division. He is on a year-long loan through June 30, 2015.
Bengtson, 27, joined the Revolution on July 5, 2012, as a designated player from Honduras’ CD Motagua. He has made 36 appearances (23 starts) and scored four goals since coming to the Revs.
He has spent significant periods of time with various Honduran national teams in the last two seasons. He was a member of the Honduras national team that appeared at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where he started all three of the country’s matches last month. He was also was a member of the Honduran team at the 2012 Olympic games in London, where he was the tournament’s second-leading scorer. Overall, Bengtson has 47 caps with the senior national team, scoring 19 goals. He was CONCACAF’s leading goal-scorer in qualification for the 2014 World Cup.
