FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution season ticket holders will be closer to the game than ever before when the Revs take on Toronto FC on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. As a part of a league-wide initiative, the Revs’ jerseys will feature numbers filled with photos of season ticket holders, as a tribute to their dedication to the club and Major League Soccer over the past 20 seasons.
Earlier this year, participating season ticket holders were able to select a jersey number (0-9) to upload their face to, and then chose a location for their image within that number. Portraits of past and present Revolution players will also appear amongst the images submitted by season ticket holders, including current head coach Jay Heaps and general manager Mike Burns, as well as FOX Sports soccer analyst Alexi Lalas and ESPN soccer analyst Taylor Twellman. Fans can preview the special numbers, as they will appear on the back of the Revs’ jerseys here.
Major League Soccer will be the first league to utilize this platform, provided by Spanish-based tech company Playing2, which has also been used by the Mexican National Team, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and other clubs around the world. All MLS jerseys – home, road and alternate – worn during regular-season games in the month of August will feature the fan-filled numbers, produced by Unisport, the official provider of authentic MLS uniform numbers and letters.
After Saturday night’s game, the Revs will wear the season ticket holder jersey numbers at home on August 15 against the Houston Dynamo and again on August 29 when they take on the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park. In September, a selection of the special edition game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off by the New England Revolution Charitable Foundation at auctions.revolutionsoccer.net.
