FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Under-18, Under-16 and Under-14 sides were all in action last weekend, going 1-0-2 on the day against BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday, June 1, at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. The U18s posted the only win of the day, topping BWG 2-1, before the U16s and U14s played to 0-0 and 1-1 ties, respectively.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s continued their recent run of good form by posting a 2-1 victory over BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday. BWG took the lead in the 15th minute through Sergio Abarca but the U18s pulled themselves level four minutes before halftime. Captain Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) brought the ball forward through midfield before playing in Gio Alves (Pawtucket, R.I.) to fire past the BWG goalkeeper from the top of the box. Both teams pushed hard for a game-winner in a physical second half, and the Revs went ahead in the 86th minute, as Christian Sady (North Andover, Mass.) posted his fifth assist in two games to play in Freddie Ferre (Waltham, Mass.) who finished into the corner. Goalkeeper Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) recorded three saves on the day to preserve the victory. The win extended the U18s’ unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1) in the East Conference of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy where they now hold a 13-5-3 (42 pts.) record. The result leaves the U18s in third place with 2.00 points per game and among the contenders for an automatic playoff berth with one game remaining in the regular season.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s were unable to find a breakthrough but also maintained a shutout against BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday. After an even first half, the Revs held the advantage in the second half and had several chances but could not find a goal. The U16s posted eight shots on the day while goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) was only called upon to make two saves. The tie extended the U16s’ unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2) in the East Conference of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy where they remain sixth with an 8-9-5 (29 pts.) record and 1.32 points per game.

UNDER-14s

The Under-14s were held to a draw by BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday, extending the team’s undefeated run to 18 games. BWG took the lead five minutes after halftime through Arben Lekperic, but the U14s quickly responded. The Revs tied the game in the 52nd minute when Isaac Angking (Providence, R.I.) played the ball through for Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) who rounded the BWG ‘keeper and finished into the empty goal. BWG’s Julian Karaidelman was later ejected in the final minute of play. Revs goalkeeper Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.) made four saves on the day to keep the BWG offense at bay. The draw extended the U14s’ unbeaten streak to 13-0-5 since Oct. 6, 2013, and the team is now 14-2-5 for the season.

All three youth teams are in action next weekend as the Under-18s and Under-16s travel to face Empire Revolution at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., on Sunday, June 8. The Under-14s are in action on Saturday, June 7, as they take on New York Soccer Club at School of the Holy Child in Rye, N.Y.
