FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution and Kraft Sports Productions, a subsidiary of the Kraft Sports Group, has announced the primary broadcast team for 2012 Revolution soccer broadcasts.
Joining veteran broadcaster and play-by-play voice Brad Feldman in the booth will be former Revolution goalkeeper Jeff Causey, the club’s new primary color analyst. The duo will also be joined by 98.5 The Sports Hub personality Damon “D.A.” Amendolara, who returns for his third season on the sideline at Revs home games.
Kraft Sports Productions produces all non-nationally televised Revolution games under the guidance of Executive Producer Matt Smith, KSP Director Dave Mondillo and Feldman, the Revolution’s Supervising Producer.
“We’re very excited to continue our team’s recent tradition of former players, and more specifically former Revolution players, providing insight into the game on our broadcasts,” Revolution President Brian Bilello said. “Jeff is a long-time fan favorite in New England, and we believe that with his playing and coaching experience, he’ll give a unique perspective on our games to viewers.
“Brad is one of the most well-respected broadcasters in American soccer, and the Revs benefit from not only his expertise and knowledge while calling games, but also his understanding and vision in heading the Revolution’s soccer productions. And with D.A., not only do we have a soccer-knowledgeable broadcaster on our sidelines for each home game, but we also have one of the region’s most popular radio personalities,” Bilello continued.
“We believe Jeff Causey will be a great addition to our announcing team,” Smith said. “Jeff’s experience as a player and coach and his communication skills make him a natural fit for the position.”
Feldman is entering his 12th season as a Revolution broadcaster, having called almost 400 matches involving the club. This season marks his eighth as the primary play-by-play announcer for the team’s broadcasts, both on television and on radio. He is also the Supervising Producer for all Revolution telecasts, heading each match broadcast – including content, operations and production.
Feldman joined the Revs organization in 2001 as a TV and radio announcer. He broadcast all four of the Revs' MLS Cup appearances and was an announcer for the club's 2007 U.S. Open Cup and SuperLiga 2008 championship-winning matches. Feldman’s resume includes play-by-play commentary for top European competitions on ESPN International and Setanta Sports and announcing MLS, USL and college matches on FOX Soccer. He began his MLS broadcasting career as a sideline reporter for the Kansas City Wizards telecasts in 1999. Feldman is a frequent guest on New England and national radio and TV talk programs on the subject of soccer.
Causey will provide color commentary for a majority of the 31 matches produced by KSP this season. Causey joined the Revolution 1997, and made 89 appearances in goal during his six-year stint with the club. In 2000, he started a career-high 21 of the 22 matches in which he played, posting a 1.55 goals against average with three shutouts while stopping 4-of-5 penalty kicks he faced. In New England, Causey went 34-44-8 in goal with a 1.80 career goals against average. He began his MLS career in 1996 with D.C. United, helping the club win the inaugural MLS Cup and the 1996 U.S. Open Cup.
Following his retirement from soccer at the end of the 2002 season, Causey entered coaching full-time and joined the staff at Maryland in 2002. He then returned to Boston and served as an assistant coach with the Boston Breakers of WUSA under current U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Pia Sundhage in 2003. Before his MLS career, he was on Bruce Arena’s coaching staff at his alma mater, Virginia, in 1995. While a player for the Cavaliers from 1990-93, Causey helped win three NCAA championship and earned All-America honors in 1993 as a senior. He was also Principle of Jeff Causey Soccer from 1995 to 2004, and he holds a USSF “B” License. Causey is currently an Assistant Vice President at Citizens Investment Services.
Amendolara, the popular host of the market-leading “The D.A. Show” on 98.5 The Sports Hub (6-11 p.m.), enters his third season as the sideline reporter for the Revs’ home broadcasts. He joined the club’s broadcast team in 2010, months after arriving in Boston in 2009. Before landing at The Sports Hub , Amendolara hosted a nighttime sports show at Miami’s WQAM from 2007 to 2009.
While he was the morning host at 610 Sports in Kansas City from 2003 to 2007, he was active with the then-Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City) of MLS. Amendolara began his career as the studio host for the then-USL's Rochester Rhinos, after graduating from Syracuse University in 2001. Amendolara is also a frequent guest on CSN’s “Sunday SportsNite” show, hosts a weekly segment on Boston's Fox-25 News and contributes to the NFL Network.
