Revs on the rise, climb to second in ESPN, MLSSoccer.com weekly Power Rankings

Team huddle (2021)

The New England Revolution are on the rise.

Both ESPN and Major League Soccer released their weekly Power Rankings on Tuesday, and the Revs were big movers following last weekend’s 2-1 win over Atlanta United FC. New England climbed to second in both sets of rankings, rising two spots on MLSSoccer.com and a whopping seven spots on ESPN.

“Carles Gil was unstoppable in New England’s 2-1 win over Atlanta, be it with his passing or off the dribble,” said ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle. “His penalty proved decisive as well. Yes, it’s early, but the Revs have the look of an MLS Cup contender if Gil can stay healthy.”

With seven points from their first three games the Revs are off to their best start since 2009, and they’ll enter Week 4 alone atop the Eastern Conference standings and tied with Seattle Sounders FC at the summit of the Supporters’ Shield table. Seattle claimed top spot on both the MLS and ESPN rankings.

New England will aim to stay unbeaten and claim a third straight win on Saturday afternoon when they visit Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium (1:30 p.m. ET, TV38, myRITV).
