There was much gnashing of teeth over Sunday's loss, which is understandable, even if a bit hysterical. Toronto was never going to be easy. Ryan Nelson appears to be making his mark on the side and he clearly had a squad busting its collective gut to keep the Revs at bay.

The early goal was perhaps one of the worst things that could have happened. It gave the visitors belief and, more importantly, something to cling to.

In my limited time gabbing down a microphone on the sideline, that was the most one-sided game I have seen and those sniping at the defeat might want to consider how many first-class saves Joe Bendik made in the Toronto goal.

Right up until Diego Fagundez's acrobatic effort in injury time, the home side never stopped plugging away and creating chances. Similar performance levels will yield results.

Off the pitch the tone was set for the evening when the visitors ran out for the start of the game late.

With a lead to hold there was plenty of gamesmanship – and perhaps the highlight came when coach Nelson picked up a ball that had gone out of play and hurled it back onto the field just as a replacement was thrown in. Jay Heaps was furious and he had every right to be.

It was that kind of night.
