FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Under-18 and Under-16 teams returned from the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, which was held at the Premier Sports Complex in Sarasota, Fla., from Dec. 2-6, after posting a combined 3-3-0 record during the multiple-day tournament.
Both teams have completed the 2011 portion of the season and currently sit at the top of the Northeast Division of the East Conference. The U18s hold a 4-1-0 record (12 pts.), while the U16s are now 3-2-0 (9 pts.).
Following the Winter Showcase, both the U18s and U16s have a break from competition until early March, when the Revs will resume their fourth season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Kicking off a series of road matches, the youth teams will play D.C. United at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md., on Saturday, March 10.

Under-18 Winter Showcase Wrap-Up
The U18s went 2-1-0 during the Showcase for the second consecutive year … the Revs earned a 1-0 victory over Charlotte Soccer Academy on Dec. 3, before suffering a 3-0 loss to the Chicago Fire on Dec. 4 … the U18s closed out the Showcase with a 3-0 win against North Meck SC on Dec. 6.
Under-16 Winter Showcase Wrap-Up
The U16s finished the Showcase with a 1-2-0 record … the Revs suffered a pair of shutout losses in their first two games: a 2-0 defeat to Charlotte Soccer Academy on Dec. 3 and 3-0 loss to the Chicago Fire on Dec. 4 … the U16s closed the event with a come-from-behind victory on Dec. 6, downing North Meck SC, 3-2.
Kabala sees time with U.S. U17 Men’s National Team
Revs U16 midfielder Guyllain “Guy” Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) was among the 20 players named to the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team roster for the 2011 Nike International Friendlies, which were also held in Sarasota, Fla … Kabala earned two starts during the event, playing 75 minutes in the 2-2 draw against France on Nov. 30 and 64 minutes in the 3-1 win against Brazil on Dec. 4 … after going undefeated, the U.S. was crowned 2011 Nike International Friendlies Champion
Herivaux named to Development Academy Select Team
Zachary Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) was among 78 players named to the Development Academy Select Teams during the Winter Showcase … born in 1996, he was assigned to one of two teams that faced off on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. … players were selected by the U.S. Soccer scouting network, Technical Advisors and Youth National Team coaches based on their performances at Academy games, Training Centers and Youth National Team camps … Herivaux played 40 minutes in the game after coming on as a second-half substitute.
Three Revs Receive Boston Globe All-Scholastic Honors
Devin Devoy (North Attleborough, Mass.), Zachary Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) and Forest Sisk (Sudbury, Mass.) earned Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors for their on-field performances during their high school seasons … seniors Devoy (Bishop Feehan HS) and Sisk (Lincoln-Sudbury HS) are in their fourth year with the Revolution program, while freshman Herivaux (Beaver Country Day) is a first-year player in the Revs’ program.
Caldwell claims All-America honors
Revs Academy product Scott Caldwell (Braintree, Mass.) earned All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last week … Caldwell, the former Revs U18 captain, started all 23 games at Akron while scoring a career-high six goals and adding a team-high 11 assists – ranking fourth in the national - for the Zips … while Akron lost in the third round of the 2011 NCAA tournament to eventual College Cup finalist Charlotte, Caldwell scored the game-winning goal in the 2010 College Cup championship match to seal the Zips’ first-ever NCAA title.
College Forum scheduled for Wednesday
The youth development program will host its annual College Forum prior to training on Wednesday, Dec. 14 … as part of the Revolution Academic Initiative, college coaches Jeff Cook (Dartmouth College) and Marc Hubbard (Southern N.H. University) will speak to players and parents, and answer questions about the college recruiting process and the transition to college sports from high school and Academy schedules.
