FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Under-18 and Under-16 teams kicked off the 2013-14 season in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sunday, Sept. 8, going unbeaten in two games against BW Gottschee. The U18s earned a 3-1 victory in their opener, while the U16s played to a 1-1 draw.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s earned a 3-1 victory against BW Gottschee on Sunday, coming from behind to pick up three points on the road. BW Gottschee’s Akeen Morris put the home side ahead in the 30th minute, but the Revs answered right before halftime. Freddie Ferre (Waltham, Mass.) found Declan McCabe (Weston, Mass.) at the top of the box in the 44th minute, and McCabe fired a left-footed shot into the back of the net to equalize. In the 58th minute, Gabe Gissie (Worcester, Mass.) beat his defender on the left and slid the ball across the face of goal for Danny Apajee (Cranston, R.I.) to tap in for the go-ahead. Gissie then scored a goal of his own in the 87th minute, collecting a pass from Leandro Alves (Pawtucket, R.I.) and netting a close-range shot.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s played BW Gottschee to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. New England opened scoring in the 35th minute of play, when John Wilkins (Natick, Mass.) received a pass from Justin Rennicks (S. Hamilton, Mass.) just outside the box and fired a left-footed shot into the upper 90.  BW Gottschee leveled the score on the other side of the break, when Julien Bouguennel tallied in the 58th minute. Both teams searched for the game-winner, but the score remained 1-1 at the final whistle.

All three of the Revolution’s youth teams -  including the Under-14s making their season debut – are in action this coming weekend, taking on BSC CT Academy at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14.
