Acquired by the Revs in a trade with Seattle on the day of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Sean Okoli brings an impressive pedigree to the club. A strong and physical forward, Okoli starred at Wake Forest before signing with the Sounders as a Homegrown Player prior to the start of the 2014 MLS season. Capable of holding the ball up as well as getting in behind the defense, Okoli is also a target on set pieces thanks to his size and athleticism.
MLS CAREER
2015: Appeared off the bench in five regular-season games, playing a total of 46 minutes in that time. Okoli made his Revolution debut in the regular-season opener in Seattle on March 8, coming on in place of Juan Agudelo against his former club for his longest appearance of the season. He made his first start for the club on June 17 against Charlotte in the Fourth Round of the U.S. Open Cup, playing 64 minutes up front before being replaced by Agudelo.
2014: Made three appearances – all as a substitute – in the league with Seattle Sounders FC after being signed as a Homegrown Player on January 8. Okoli made his professional debut for the Sounders in the side’s season-opener, coming on as a late substitute in a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City. He came off the bench twice more, playing 14 minutes against Columbus on March 29 and the final minutes of a 4-2 win over Chivas USA on September 27. He also made one appearance in the U.S. Open Cup, starting and scoring the Sounders’ fifth goal in a 5-0 win over PSA Elite in the Fourth Round on June 24. Okoli played seven times for Seattle’s reserve team, scoring two goals and adding two assists.
CLUB CAREER OUTSIDE OF MLS
Played in two games with the USL’s Orange County Blues in June 2014 while on loan, tallying one assist.
