FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution have signed midfielder DeJuan Jones, the 11th-overall selection in the first round of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, the club announced today.

Jones, 21, joined New England as the club’s second selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft after a four-year career at Michigan State, where he registered 16 goals and 14 assists across 75 appearances. The five-foot-nine attacker earned second-team All-Big Ten Conference recognition in back-to-back seasons in 2017 and 2018 and helped the Spartans to a 2018 College Cup Semifinal appearance.

The Lansing, Mich. native emerged as a regular starter for Michigan State as a junior, submitting career highs with seven goals and six assists en route to the 2017 College Cup Elite Eight. Jones was recognized with USC Third Team All-Midwest Region and Big Ten Conference All-Academic Team honors following the campaign. As a senior in 2018, he tallied another five goals and five helpers in 22 appearances – all starts – for the Spartans.

Prior to attending Michigan State, Jones was a decorated high school player at East Lansing High School. In his senior season, he was named the state’s 2015 Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Soccer by Michigan’s high school coaches. The three-year all-conference, all-area, all-district, and all-region honoree was a two-time Lansing State Journal Player of the Year and led his school to back-to-back state championships. 

The Revolution will open the 24th Major League Soccer season on Saturday, March 2 against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium. The club will then return to Gillette Stadium on March 9 for the home opener against Columbus Crew SC.
