KICK CHILDHOOD CANCER GAME
The Revs will host their annual 'Kick Childhood Cancer Game' in conjunction with MLS WORKS when Real Salt Like visit Foxborough on Saturday night. In recognition of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, there will be special gold-themed match-day elements, including a gold match ball, gold nets, gold corner flags, a special gold captain's armband and Kick Childhood Cancer procession tops.
Game-worn jerseys and other items from Saturday night's match will be auctioned off at a later date, with details to come.
The Revs have made several community hospital visits as part of this initiative, including at Boston Children's Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital and Hasbro Children's Hospital. New England have also partnered with Binkeez for Comfort, with players visiting their headquarters to create handmade blankets for patients, and delivering the special products during their hospital visits.
The players also worked with young MGH patients to put together a special #KickChildhoodCancer tifo that features hand and footprints of those children who are fighting cancer. This banner will be displayed in-stadium during Saturday's match against Real Salt Lake.
RECENT FORM VS. REAL SALT LAKE
This will be the 22nd overall meeting between the Revs and Real Salt Lake, and their 11th game played at Gillette Stadium.
The Revs have gone 4-4-2 at home against Real Salt Lake, and this will be the first match these two sides have played in Foxborough since 2017. In that match, the Revs rolled past RSL to a 4-0 shutout victory.
However, Salt Lake returned the favor in 2018, when RSL handed New England a 4-1 loss at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kelyn Rowe scored the lone goal for the Revolution in that game, and he will return to Foxborough as he's now with RSL after a recent trade sent him to from Kansas City to Salt Lake City.
Saturday night is shaping up to be a critical match for both sides in the playoff race, as both the Revs and RSL sit three points above the playoff line in their respective conferences with four games remaining.
Overall Record vs. RSL: 6-10-5
Home Record vs. RSL: 4-4-2
Last Meeting at Rio Tinto Stadium: Real Salt Lake 4, Revs 1 (October 18, 2018)
Last Meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 4, Real Salt Lake 0 (May 13, 2017)
