FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (November 13, 2023) – New England Revolution Academy midfielder Cristiano Oliveira (2008 – Somerville, Mass.) was called up to the Under-16 United States Youth National Team ahead of the squad’s first training camp for the 2023-24 cycle in Carson, Calif. this week.
Oliveira joined the Revolution Academy in 2021 and tallied six goals in nine games with the U-15s as well as three goals in 11 appearances with the U-17s last season and owns three appearances in the U-17 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. The Somerville native currently leads the Under-17s with 12 goals and two assists so far this fall. November’s camp marks Oliveira’s second call-up to the U.S. Youth National Team after participating in a U-15 camp last season.
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 are age-eligible for this one-year cycle. The roster features 23 players born in 2008 and one born in 2009. U-19 MYNT head coach Michael Nsien, who served as U-16 MYNT head coach from Nov. 2022-Sept. 2023, will lead the training camp.
