Youth Academy Teams vs. Albertson

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. ā€“ The New England Revolutionā€™s Under-18, Under-16 and Under-14 teams were all back in action for the first time since March 13, posting a 1-0-2 record for the weekend. The U-18s and U-16s travelled to Whippany, N.J. to take on the New York Red Bulls U-18s and U-16s, while the U-14s travelled to Queens, N.Y. where they faced Met Ovalā€™s U-14s. The U-18s and U-16s each posted draws, while the U-14s defeated Met Oval, 1-0.


UNDER-18s

The Under-18s were back in action at the Red Bulls Training Facility on Sunday, when they played the New York Red Bulls U-18s to a scoreless draw. The Revs recorded six shots, including four shots on target, but were unable to find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) posted his third shutout of the season, recording five saves.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s returned to their U.S. Soccer Development Academy schedule on Saturday, when they played the New York Red Bulls U-16s to a 2-2 draw. A pair of braces from either side accounted for the scoring in the match. New Yorkā€™s Omar Fernandez opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Following a Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) shot on target in the 38th minute, Amos Shapiro-Thompson (Worthington, Mass.) converted an equalizing rebound shortly before halftime. Just minutes after halftime, Shapiro-Thompson recorded his second of the match from 20 yards out to give the Revs the lead. Fernandez, however, completed a brace of his own in the 54th minute to bring the Red Bulls level. Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.) recorded four saves en route to the draw.

The Under-14s travelled to Queens, N.Y. where they defeated the Met Oval U-14s, 1-0. Kaoru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass.) played a through ball to Bryce Visnick (Beverly, Mass.), who converted from the top of the box in the 40th minute for the only goal of the match. Connel Oā€™Brien (Rochester, N.H.) picked up his fourth shutout of the season in the winning effort.
