Academy Update: June 1, 2017

DL - Academy U14s

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All four New England Revolution Academy teams returned to the pitch this past weekend, with each side hosting Everton FC Westchester in East Providence, R.I. The Under-14s and Under-13s concluded the USSDA portion of their schedule over the weekend. Both teams will compete in separate competitions later this month.


The Under-18s and Under-16s will play the final two regular season matches of their USSDA schedules next weekend when they travel to Brooklyn, N.Y. to play BW Gottschee on Saturday, June 3.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Defender Tyler Freitas '00 (North Attleborough, Mass.) scored his first goal of the 2016-17 USSDA season in the U-18s' 3-0 win.
  • Midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) recorded his Academy-leading 11th assist for the U-18s. Vang has 20 career assists in his three years as an Academy player.
  • Goalkeeper Trey Miller '99 (Monson, Mass.) did not have to face a shot on target in the U-18s 3-0 victory, giving him his fourth shutout of the season. Goalkeepers Nick Cardona '03 (Roxbury, Mass.) and Eliot Jones '03 (New Britain, Conn.) combined to record two saves in the U-13s' 3-0 shutout win.
  • Forward Brandonn Bueno '04 (Framingham, Mass.) scored his Revolution Academy-leading 15th goal in the U-13s 3-0 win.
  • Defender Jack Anderson '03 (Holyoke, Mass.), midfielder Alejandro Coury '02 (Yarmouth, Maine), and forward Michael Tsicoulias '03(Newton, Mass.) were unavailable for selection this past weekend due to their participation in the U.S. Youth National Team's Futures Camp in Carson, Calif. from May 26-30.
