Academy Update: November 2, 2016

U14's vs. Bolts | Oct 29

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s Under-18, Under-16, Under-14, and Under-13 teams were back in action this past weekend, with all four teams on the road. The Under-18s and Under-16s traveled north of the border, where the two teams posted a pair of draws against the Montreal Impact on Saturday. The Under-14s and Under-13s were in Winston-Salem, N.C. for the USSDA East Regional Showcase. The U-14s played matches against the New York Red Bulls (Oct. 29), Chargers Soccer Club (Oct. 29), and D.C. United (Oct. 30), while the U-13s were in action against D.C. United (Oct. 28), Capital Area RailHawks – CASL (Oct. 28), and the Philadelphia Union (Oct. 29).


All four Revolution Academy teams return to the pitch this weekend, when each of the four teams will host Oakwood Soccer Club on Saturday. The Under-18s and Under-16s will play their matches at East Providence High School, while the Under-14s and Under-13s will take the field at Medway High School.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Izaiah Jennings '98 (Barrington, R.I.) recorded his second goal on the year over the weekend for the Under-18s with midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) registering his third assist of the season on the goal. In addition, midfielder Joe Brito '99 (Bolton, Conn.) converted a penalty for a second consecutive match.  The goal was Brito’s fourth in the U-18s last three matches.
  • Midfielder Jonathan Ferreira '01 (Ashland, Mass.) registered his sixth goal of the season for the U-16s against the Montreal Impact.
  • Forward Damian Rivera '02 (Cranston, R.I.) added to his goal total by converting two attempts from the penalty spot for the U-14s. He scored against Chargers Soccer Club on Oct. 29 and against D.C. United on Oct. 30.
  • Goalkeepers Eliot Jones '03 (New Britain, Conn.) and Nickolas Cardona '03 (Roxbury, Mass.) combined to allow just one goal over three matches for the U-13s in the USSDA East Regional Showcase. Cardona stopped a penalty against the Capital Area RailHawks – CASL on Oct. 28, preserving a shutout for the Revs.
  • Forward Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) played a part in both of the Under-13s’ goals over the weekend. Serafino registered the game-winner, his fourth goal of the season, against D.C. United on Oct. 28 and also recorded an assist on the goal scored by Christian Bejar'03 (Lawrence, Mass.) against the Philadelphia Union on Oct. 29.
