FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Four New England Revolution Academy players have been called in to the U.S. Under-16 National Team Camp that will be held later this month in Florida. Calvin Aroh, Daniel Jones, Trey Miller and Justin Rennicks – all members of the Revolution Under-16 team – have been called in to the camp, which will be held from June 7-14 in Sunrise, Florida. Luchi Gonzalez and Shaun Tsakiris will serve as the coaches for the camp.
“All four of these players have done a tremendous job representing the Revolution Academy this season,” Revolution director of youth development Bryan Scales said. “Calvin, Daniel, Trey and Justin have been vital parts of our Under-16 team this season and we’re happy that they are going to be able to share this experience.”
Aroh, who is in his second year with the Revolution Academy, has made 19 starts this season with the U-16s, scoring one goal, while also making one start for the U-18s. The defender also started five games in the Generation adidas Cup, which is Major League Soccer’s annual elite youth tournament for U-17 Academy teams. A native of Glastonbury, Connecticut, Aroh has twice spent time with a U.S. Youth National Team. After participating in a week-long Under-14 camp in August 2013, the 16-year-old was called in to the U.S. U-16s for the Netherlands International Tournament in March 2015, starting against the Czech Republic.
Fellow defender Jones is in his third year with the Revs Academy. The West Hartford, Connecticut native has made 16 starts for the U-16s and two starts while playing up with the U-18s this season. Jones has scored two goals and added two assists, with all four coming in wins for the U-16s. Jones, 16, who also started twice in the Generation adidas Cup, has the most National Team experience of the four players called in. He represented the U.S. U-16s in a camp held in Clairefontaine, France that included a pair of friendlies against Paris Saint-Germain’s Academy and France’s U-16s in November 2014 before also being called in for the Netherlands International Tournament where he started against the Czech Republic and Netherlands.
Miller, who is the only Revs Academy player called in without any previous National Team experience, has made 18 starts for the U-16s in the 2014-15 season. A 16-year-old goalkeeper who is in his third season with the Revolution Academy, Miller has recorded 10 shutouts while posting a 0.46 goals against average for the U-16s in league play this season. The Monson, Massachusetts native also made eight appearances at the Generation adidas Cup, shutting out the Revs’ opponents three times in the competition to help his side finish sixth of 16 teams in the Premier Division.
Rennicks, 16, is also in his third season with the Revolution Academy and has spent time training with the Revs’ first team on two separate occasions, including for a week during the preseason in Tucson, Arizona for the Desert Diamond Cup where he made one appearance as a late substitute against the Colorado Rapids. He has made 19 appearances with the U-16s while also appearing once for the U-18s. Rennicks has scored four goals and added a team-best eight assists for the U-16s in league play while he was a mainstay in the Generation adidas Cup, appearing in all 10 games and notching one assist.
A forward from South Hamilton, Massachusetts, Rennicks has been called in to the U.S. U-16s squad for the 2015 Aegan Cup International Youth Tournament held in Turkey, where he appeared in all three of the U.S. U-16s’ games and scored one goal – the game-winner against Romania – before joining Aroh and Jones in Rotterdam for the Netherlands International Tournament where he also appeared in all three games, recording an assist against Netherlands.
