It was a tough ending to an otherwise brilliant season for Revs’ goalkeeper Matt Reis on Wednesday night as the Revs fell 4-3 on aggregate to Sporting Kansas City and were eliminated from MLS Cup Playoffs. Kyle McCarthy looks back on just how special 2013 was for Reis.

There’s a noticeable trend this morning concerning the future of this Revs team, and that trend is a bright one. NBC Pro Soccer Talk’s Richard Farley points out that a young team like this year’s squad needs a tough lesson in losing before they break through and come back even stronger. The Revs will look to do just that in 2014.

Despite the loss in Kansas City on Wednesday, Brian Straus of Sports Illustrated notes that the Revs have plenty to be proud of from the 2013 season. More importantly, Straus thinks this team will be dangerous for years to come.
