FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution defender Chris Tierney has been placed on the club’s Season Ending Injury (SEI) list with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Tierney, 32, suffered the injury in the 43rd minute of the club’s match on Wednesday, May 30 against Atlanta United FC. He is expected to undergo surgery in the next few weeks and will miss the remainder of the 2018 season with an expected recovery time of nine months.
An 11-season veteran of MLS, Tierney is the longest tenured field player in New England Revolution’s history. He ranks third in club history with 246 MLS appearances and fourth with 220 games started. He also ranks among the Revolution’s top players all-time in assists (third), game-winning assists (second), and minutes played (fourth).
