FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – A trio of New England Revolution players were active during the international break as Isaac Angking (United States Under-19s), Zach Herivaux (Haiti) and Gabriel Somi (Syria) traveled to represent their countries.
Angking, fresh off his professional debut in last week’s 1-0 win over New York City FC, made three appearances for the U.S. U19s as they captured the U.S. Soccer U-20 Men’s Invitational title in Bradenton, Fla.
The 18-year-old midfielder – who had previously featured for the U.S. U14s, U15s and U17s – came off the bench to play the final 45 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Venezuela before starting in a 1-0 win over the U19s’ older counterparts, the U.S. Under-20s.
Angking saved his best for last, going the full 90 minutes and scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot in the U.S. U19s 4-1 win over Jamaica, sealing the title in the four-team, round-robin tournament.
Herivaux played a part in Haiti’s biggest win in national team history, coming off the bench to play the final 28 minutes in a 13-0 victory over Saint Martin as Les Grenadiers kicked off their 2019/20 CONCACAF Nations League qualifying campaign in style. It was the fourth cap for the 22-year-old Herivaux.
Somi is still awaiting his full international debut after he was an unused substitute in both of Syria’s friendlies: a 1-1 draw with Uzbekistan and a 2-1 loss to Kyrgyzstan.
All three players are slated to return to New England on Wednesday and be available for selection when the Revs make their first-ever visit to Los Angeles FC on Saturday night (10:30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Boston and 98.5 The Sports Hub).
