Luis Caicedo obtains green card; no longer occupies international roster spot

Luis Caicedo (2019, Colonial)

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Luis Caicedo has obtained his green card and no longer occupies an international roster spot. The 24-year-old Colombian is entering his fourth season with the Revolution after arriving ahead of the 2018 campaign.

With Caicedo now classified as a domestic player, New England have eight international players filling the eight available spots on their active roster: Gustavo Bou, Adam Buksa, Carles Gil, Wilfrid Kaptoum, Edward Kizza, Maciel, Christian Mafla, and Arnór Traustason. Five of those players have been signed within the past three months, including Maciel, officially added to the roster on Monday.

Caicedo, who made 61 appearances (56 starts) his first two seasons in New England, has returned to full health after missing the entire 2020 campaign through injury. He’ll depart with the Revolution on Wednesday for an 18-day preseason trip to California, where they’ll play five exhibition matches against the LA Galaxy, LAFC, and LA Galaxy II.
