RECENT FORM VS. CHICAGO FIRE FC
This will be the second and final meeting between the Revs and Fire this regular season, and the first was one of the wildest encounters of the campaign. Clashing back on May 27 at Gillette Stadium it was visiting Chicago that raced out to an early 2-0 lead before the Revs stormed back to pull even at 2-2, only for the Fire to respond and retake a 3-2 advantage into the closing stages. New England answered once more, however, and the teams shared the points in a 3-3 draw. That result keeps the Revs unbeaten in their last nine meetings with the Fire (3-0-6) dating back to the 2019 season, including positive results on their last four trips to the Windy City (2-0-2).
The Revs (13-6-9, 48 pts.) suffered just their sixth loss of the season this past weekend in Colorado, as Omar Gonzalez's first goal in a Revolution jersey was mere consolation in a 2-1 defeat to the Rapids. Now winless away from home since early May - uncharacteristic of a side with one of the best road records in all of MLS since 2020 - New England will be looking to get back on track in Chicago before coming home to Foxborough, where they'll play three of their final five matches as they aim to solidify their place in a crowded Eastern Conference playoff race that sees just five points separate second from sixth.
Chicago (8-11-9, 33 pts.) heads into a midweek visit to the Columbus Crew winless in five (0-4-1) since resuming league play in August, and with just a single goal scored during that stretch. Despite those recent struggles the Fire find themselves just two points below the playoff line in the Eastern Conference, and they've lost just three times at home all season (5-3-6) ahead of this weekend's meeting with the Revolution.
A return home awaits the Revs after wrapping up their three-game road swing, as they'll host both Charlotte FC (September 30) and the Columbus Crew (October 4) in a five-day span after coming back to New England.
Overall Record vs. Chicago: 33-37-19
Away Record vs. Chicago: 8-25-11
Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 3, Fire 3 (May 27, 2023)
Last meeting in Chicago: Revs 1, Fire 1 (October 9, 2022)
