RECENT FORM VS. FC CINCINNATI
This series only dates back to 2019 when FC Cincinnati joined MLS as an expansion side, but the Revs have been dominant during that four-year period, going 5-0-1 in the last six meetings since suffering their lone loss to FCC in March 2019. That includes a 2-0-1 record against Cincinnati last year, as the Revs scored multiple goals in all three meetings. New England claimed a 3-2 win at TQL Stadium and played to a 2-2 draw at Gillette Stadium in league play, while rolling to a 5-1 win in a U.S. Open Cup showdown in Foxborough.
The sides will enter Matchday 10 tied atop both the Supporters' Shield and Eastern Conference standings, with the Revs currently holding the edge on goal difference. New England's 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City last weekend stretched the Revolution's unbeaten run to six (4-0-2) and improved their home record to 4-0-1, buoyed by a Giacomo Vrioni brace. The Revolution's fine form continued on Tuesday night as they advanced to the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 with a 2-1 win over Hartford Athletic of the USL Championship.
FC Cincinnati's start to 2023 has run almost parallel to the Revs, as they boast an identical 6-1-2 record with their only loss a heavy defeat on the road to a Western Conference leader. Pat Noonan's side are a perfect 5-0-0 at home, but they've also been solid on the road, picking up points on three of their first four road trips (1-1-2), and apart from their recent 5-1 loss at St. Louis CITY SC, they've conceded just five goals in their other eight games. Prior to visiting Foxborough, FC Cincinnati will enter the U.S. Open Cup with a Third Round showdown against Louisville City FC on Wednesday evening.
Saturday night's match will wrap up a home-heavy month of April for the Revs, who will play five of their next games on the road through May and early June.
