JUNETEENTH

Sunday will be the Revolution's first-ever match dedicated to Juneteenth, as the club will highlight various members of the local Black community, including grassroots organizations and social justice and equity leaders throughout the evening. Major League Soccer and all 28 clubs will commemorate the official end of slavery in the United States with activities at matches throughout the weekend.

Most notably, every MLS club will wear Juneteenth-inspired numbers on their match jerseys and warmup "Unity" tops as part of leaguewide recognition in partnership with Black Players for Change. The Revolution's special edition jerseys will be available in an online auction beginning next week, with proceeds benefitting Man Up of Rhode Island.

Nicole Jacob, a representative of the North Shore Juneteenth Association, will be honored as Sunday's Hero of the Match, while the Boston Arts & Music Soul Festival (BAMS) will have a presence throughout the stadium. Kasia Lavon, a local artist from BAMS, will perform both "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and the National Anthem, while the concourse will feature a live art display from BAMS Fest.

The Revs will also display the Juneteenth flag throughout the stadium on Sunday, while the club will also display informational graphics on the Players Collaborative Fund recipient on the videoboard.

RECENT FORM VS. MINNESOTA UNITED FC

There isn't much history between the New England Revolution and Minnesota United FC as these two clubs will be meeting for just the fourth time on Sunday evening. Homefield advantage has been the key in this series as the home team has won all three previous showdowns, including a pair of victories for the Revolution at Gillette Stadium. The most recent meeting came all the way back in March 2019, when Brandon Bye and Jalil Anibaba were the goal scorers in New England's 2-1 victory.

The Loons will be coming off a lengthy break this weekend as they last played a competitive match on May 28, suffering a 1-0 loss to New York City FC at Allianz Field. They did, however, play a friendly against German side SC Paderborn this past weekend, registering a 4-3 win in a game that was something of an anomaly for a group that has featured one of the league's stingiest defenses (15 goals against) and lowest-scoring attacks (15 goals for).

New England's league unbeaten run stretched to seven games (3-0-4) on Wednesday night with a 1-1 draw against Orlando City SC, but there was some frustration as the Revs have seen leads slip away in all four draws during that stretch. They're now 2-0-3 in their last five home games, including three straight draws, and they'll be looking to get back to winning ways on Sunday evening when they close out a three-game week against Minnesota.

With the halfway point of the season fast approaching and both the Revs and Minnesota hovering around the playoff line in their respective conferences, Sunday's game will be an important one for both sides.

Overall Record vs. Minnesota: 2-1-0
Home Record vs. Minnesota: 2-0-0

Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 2, Minnesota 1 (March 30, 2019)
Last meeting in Minnesota: Minnesota 2, Revs 1 (July 18, 2018)

SHOW YOUR COLORS

The Revs will be sporting their new primary kit, “The Liberty.” The bespoke pattern is inspired by Boston’s Freedom Trail, a walking trail through the heart of Boston which passes 16 historical sites from the American Revolution – which gives a nod to the club name. This sleek new look will be paired with blue shorts, conveying a defiant, bold and strong look.

The club is reverting to blue shorts for the first time since 2013 to complement “The Liberty”. This is to convey a bold and strong one-color look, in-keeping with the New England’s defiant spirit while also enabling the new logo the chance to shine in its first time on a kit.

You can purchase “The Liberty” HERE.
