LEAGUES CUP 2023
The reimagined Leagues Cup – including all 47 clubs from MLS and Liga MX – is a World Cup style tournament featuring a total of 77 games throughout both a group stage and knockout rounds. The official Concacaf competition will run from July 21 through August 19, and all games will be hosted at MLS venues throughout the U.S. and Canada. At stake is much more than just bragging rights, as three spots in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup will be on the line with the winner earning qualification directly to the Round of 16, and both the second and third place finishers also earning qualification.
As recent domestic champions, Los Angeles FC (MLS) and Pachuca (Liga MX) both earned automatic berths in the Leagues Cup Round of 32, while the remaining 45 teams were divided into 15 groups across four regions: West, Central, South, and East. All clubs played two group stage games at MLS venues, with the Revs battling the New York Red Bulls to a 0-0 draw (and subsequent penalty shootout loss) before rolling past Atlético de San Luis, 5-1. The top two teams from each group advanced to the Round of 32, with the Revs advancing in second place from the East 4 group.
Knockout round matches that are tied after 90 minutes will be decided by a penalty shootout, and the Revs booked their spot in the Round of 16 with a wild, 8-7 penalty shootout win over Atlas FC following a 2-2 draw in the Round of 32.
Leagues Cup matches will be presented live to fans around the world through MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. More information on the competition can be found HERE.

RECENT FORM VS. QUERÉTARO FC
Monday night's Round of 16 showdown will be the first-ever meeting between the Revs and Querétaro, though it presents another opportunity for New England to continue their historically fine run of form against Mexican opposition. Including a 7-1-1 record in the North American SuperLiga, a 1-1-0 mark in Concacaf Champions Cup, and a 1-0-1 tally in this year's Leagues Cup, the Revs boast a 9-2-2 record in 13 all-time meetings with Liga MX sides. That includes a 9-1-2 mark at Gillette Stadium, where the Revs have outscored Mexican opponents at a rate of 22-8, and where they've beaten Atlético de San Luis (5-1) and drawn Atlas FC (2-2) in recent days.
New England reached the Round of 16 in the most dramatic fashion, using Gustavo Bou's brace to erase an early 2-0 deficit before converting all eight penalties in the shootout to claim an 8-7 win over Atlas. The Revs have now lost just once in 16 games at Gillette Stadium in all competitions this year (11-1-4), including a run of 6-0-2 in their last eight games in Foxborough. When league play resumes later this month, the Revs will sit second in the overall MLS standings with a record of 12-4-7 (43 pts.), chasing only league leaders FC Cincinnati with 11 games remaining.
Querétaro have recovered from a slow start to Leagues Cup and booked their place in the last 16 with a 1-0 win over fellow Liga MX side Pumas UNAM in the Round of 32, lifted by Ángel Sepúlveda's 74th-minute goal and a six-save shutout performance from goalkeeper Fernando Tapia. Los Gallos Blancos opened the tournament with a 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Union, but responded with a 1-0 win over Club Tijuana to finish second in the East 1 group. Mauro Gerk's side has played just two games in the Liga MX Apertura, claiming a 2-0 win over Santos Laguna and suffering a 4-1 loss to the same San Luis side the Revs defeated 5-1 earlier in Leagues Cup.
The winner of Monday night's match will advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled to be held on August 11 and 12.
Overall Record vs. Liga MX: 9-2-2
Home Record vs. Liga MX: 9-1-2
