FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (August 26, 2023) – The New England Revolution re-signed goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. to a new one-year contract for the 2024 Major League Soccer season, with an additional one-year option for 2025.
Edwards Jr. joined the Revolution as a free agent in 2021. Since joining New England, Edwards has made 10 appearances across all competitions in a Revolution uniform, logging a 5-4-1 record with two shutout performances. Most recently, he helped the Revolution advance past the Leagues Cup Round of 32 on August 3 with a 2-2 draw against Liga MX side Atlas FC, which New England won in the shootout.
“Earl is a talented and dependable goalkeeper who brings leadership to our club on the field and in the locker room,” Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. “With Earl’s experience in our league and abilities as a goalkeeper, his continued presence in New England will be an asset to the Revolution.”
The 31-year-old’s career also includes a four-year stint with Orlando City SC (2015-2018) and two seasons with D.C. United, (2019-2020). He has tallied over 50 professional appearances across his eight-year career. Off the field, Edwards also serves as the President and Co-Founder of Black Players for Change.
