FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (8-4-2; 28 pts.) defeated New York City FC II (7-4-1; 22 pts.) 1-0 on Wednesday evening at Gillette Stadium. Goalkeeper Nico Campuzano made three saves en route to his second clean sheet of 2023. New England’s second win against New York this season extends its dominant home form to five consecutive unbeaten matches, 3-0-2, since April 21.

“I think we have a very good group of guys," Assistant Coach Marcelo Santos said postgame. "And I think when we’re all working together, there is a performance we can expect from them, so we are proud and we feel like they can do more and more as we progress through the season.”

Malcolm Fry scored the lone goal of the game, netting a rebound from Jordan Adebayo-Smith with a right-footed shot to the center of the goal in the 57th minute. Adebayo-Smith led New England with three shots, all on target, in 62 minutes played, while forward Marcos Dias logged the full 90, recording two shots. Revolution Academy forward Gianluca Aremllino made his second professional appearance and played 20 minutes.

Campuzano also returned to the starting XI for the first time since May 25 against Columbus Crew 2 and collected his second consecutive clean sheet of the season, marking the team’s third shutout of the 2023 campaign.

“I think it was huge from everybody. Last time we played them [New York City FC II], we lost, and we felt like that game escaped us. I remember we went up, then we were a man down, and then it almost felt like we let it slip," Campuzano stated. "This game we knew we had to have extra focus. They’re a very good team and we were both tired so it was going to be a game of who can keep their calm and composure for the longest. It's a huge performance and I’m very proud of the guys.”

Revolution II returns to action on Sunday, June 18 against FC Cincinnati 2 at NKU Soccer Stadium. The 6 p.m. match will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
