QUEENS, N.Y. (April 14, 2024) – New England Revolution II (1-3-0; 3 pts.) fell to New York City FC II (1-2-1; 5 pts.), 6-2, on Sunday night at Belson Stadium. Revolution Academy product Gevork Diarbian recorded his first goal-and-assist performance in his first start for Revolution II. Homegrown midfielder Jack Panayotou contributed to the scoring with his second tally of the season.
New England found the scoresheet early with Panayotou netting a left-footed shot in the eighth minute. The Cambridge, Mass. native capitalized off a cross into the box from Diarbian, who logged his first assist of the season on the play. New York City FC II leveled the match three minutes later, then took the lead in the 16th minute with two goals from Jonathan Jimenez. In the 32nd minute, New York City tallied a third goal to put the hosts ahead 3-1 at halftime.
Diarbian cut into the deficit with his first professional goal for Revolution II in the 67th minute. Marcos Dias provided the helper, and now leads New England with two assists in his 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign. New York City put the game out of reach with three unanswered goals over the final minutes of the contest to close out its 6-2 win.
