After being battered by several inches of rainfall in Cincinnati last weekend, the Revolution should see clear skies as they seek victory in Atlanta this Saturday afternoon. New England will face off with Atlanta United FC for the first time this season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 2:45 p.m. ET.

CURRENT FORM
New England Revolution
13th in Eastern Conference (1-4-1, 4 pts.)
Last Result | 1-0 loss at FC Cincinnati
Although the Revolution failed to find a goal in last Saturday’s clash with Cincinnati, they had one of their liveliest attacking performances of the season. The Revs cranked out 15 total shots, putting just three on frame but finding the woodwork twice. The loss followed their first win of the season against the New York Red Bulls – a success they had hoped would give them a boost to snag more points, with all but two games on the road until June.
While it was a disappointing result for New England, the match gave striker Maxi Urruti his 300th MLS regular season appearance, a feat owned by only 11 active players. While Urruti has stepped in for starting striker Leo Campana as he recovers from a hamstring injury, the Revolution attack is expected to be bolstered by the return of winger Tomás Chancalay. The Argentinean is projected to be available in Atlanta for the first time since tearing his ACL last May.
Atlanta United FC
10th in Eastern Conference (2-2-3, 9 pts.)
Last Result | 1-1 draw vs. FC Dallas
Atlanta took an early lead against Dallas at Mercedes-Benz Stadium last Saturday night, after a penalty drawn by Emmanuel Latte Lath was converted by midfielder Miguel Almirón in the 17th minute. Failing to create much of a threat in the attack, the hosts eventually conceded and settled for a single point after Dallas equalized in the second half.
Since 2021, Atlanta has only claimed a single win over the Revolution, defeating them in last season’s meeting at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Revolution hold a 5-1-2 record in their last eight meetings with Atlanta, but the Five Stripes will look to capitalize on last season’s home success.
KEY PLAYERS
Revolution midfielder Matt Polster
Since returning from a thigh injury picked up in preseason, veteran midfielder Matt Polster has made an immediate impact for the Revolution. Polster made his 2025 debut against NYCFC, and has been a key figure in central midfield while starting the past three games.
In last Saturday’s match against Cincinnati, Polster played a major role defensively, consistently breaking up plays and anchoring the midfield. His veteran decision-making also helped spark New England’s transition into the attack, linking the backline to the front, and contributing to the Revolution’s 15-shot game. Polster had a 91.2 percent passing accuracy in his last match and took three attempts at goal. Heading into Atlanta, his experience will aid the Revolution as they look to get back on track with a win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta midfielder Miguel Almirón
Miguel Almirón has started a streak, scoring in back-to-back games and making history in last weekend’s match against FC Dallas by pulling level with Thiago Almada for second-most regular-season goals in Atlanta United history (23). The midfielder, who started his MLS career with Atlanta in 2017-2018, then went on to play seven seasons with English Premier League side Newcastle United. This season marks Almirón’s return to Atlanta, where he is already making waves.
Almirón will have extra motivation heading into Saturday’s match against New England as he looks to break his tie with Almada, and with a stadium packed full of Five Stripes fans, New England will need to temper his fire and prevent an Atlanta advantage.
HEAR FROM THE REVS
Head coach Caleb Porter on Tomás Chancalay’s recovery and potential return on Saturday:
“He [Chancalay] has worked really hard. Obviously, it's rough to be out that long. We're really happy for him that he is back, that he has made it back, and that he looks good. We're hoping he can be available off the bench in this game [at Atlanta United FC], and then we'll see where Leo [Campana] is at, as well. He's also back in training.”
Porter on the takeaways from preseason action against Atlanta:
“Preseason you don’t take a ton from. I think we were two-and-a-half or three weeks in maybe to what we were building. We are doing different things now. We are playing different players as well now. They [Atlanta] did not have their full roster together either, and they are doing different things, as well. So, not a ton to take from that preseason game. We will take more from watching their recent games that they have played. What we are trying to do is continue with the good play. In the last two games in particular, the chances we have created, the amount of moments we have gotten in around the goal, our good defending, so we are trying to keep that. But then we are also trying to find a few little wrinkles that will push us over the top. We will make decisions again, and the way we will play in this game, like always, will be with the goal of winning the game. For me, I am happy with the last couple games in terms of the evolution. I am not happy with the result of the last game, but I do think there is more in our group.”
Goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič on the team’s recent results:
“Yeah, it’s a difficult moment right now. As we all know, six games in and we [haven’t scored] many goals, and that’s what it’s all about. If you want to win games and be the best, you need to score goals. So, we need to do better, it’s not a secret. We all know that we need to score more goals, because defensively, I think we’ve been pretty good. Now, it’s just about scoring and hopefully we’ll do that in the next game [at Atlanta on Saturday].”
