CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - New England Revolution II (1-3-2, 5 pts.) fell on Saturday, dropping a 4-0 result on the road to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Revolution II made a pair of changes to the lineup from Wednesday night’s win, rotating in goalkeeper Keegan Meyer for his second start of the season and reverting left back Ryan Spaulding back to his natural position of winger.

Chattanooga scored three times in the first half, including a brace by Marky Hernandez and a goal and an assist from Ricardo Zacarias. Steven Beattie scored the final goal late in the second half.

“We all have to look into how we prepare for games, how we adapt and adjust to life on the road, the conditions, a different venue, and the way another team plays,” said Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay. “All these things are factors and I think it’s a point of reflection for everybody, staff included, to figure out where can we be better and how can we be better.”

Defender Jon Bell led both teams with 87 touches and completing 65 of 77 passes. On the offensive end, Isaac Angking and Orlando Sinclair had the best chances of the day for New England, but both saw their efforts go wide.

“I think going back home we kind of have a chip on our shoulder now like we don’t want to lose like this again,” said Bell. “I think that’s going to be the energy going out next week to practice and up until the game. We don’t want to have this feeling again.”

At the start of Saturday’s match, both teams demonstrated their support for the ongoing struggle for social justice and equality by taking a knee after the opening whistle, before beginning play after seven minutes of reflection.

“There was a lot of talk about whether to play or not to play and I think we made a great decision by playing,” said Bell. “When we do play we are still able to show exactly what is going on in the world and we did that with the first seven minutes because people didn’t expect it. I’m happy the way USL let us plan it out and have us shed light on what’s happened over the past couple weeks.”

New England returns home to face Forward Madison FC on Friday at Gillette Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The match will stream live on ESPN+ in the United States and YouTube internationally.

Meyer Gets Second Start of the Season

• Goalkeeper Keegan Meyer collected his second start of the season on Saturday after making his professional debut eight days earlier, recording three saves.

Two Academy Products Make Professional Debut

• Academy defenders Diego Souza and Nathan Metsack both saw their first action of the season as second-half substitutes, replacing Colby Quinones and Collin Verfurth respectively.
• Souza took 14 touches in his brief appearance and complete 80 percent of his passes.
• Metsack recorded one clearance and an interception in 18 minutes of action and completed 13 of 15 passes.

Spaulding Starts at Winger

• Ryan Spaulding, who has featured primarily at left back for Revolution II this season, earned a start at left wing on Saturday, a position he had played primarily in college and in his first year as a pro.
• Spaulding completed 75 percent of his passes, including 14 passes in the opposing half.
