FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (June 10, 2023) – The New England Revolution (8-3-6; 30 pts.) defeated Inter Miami CF (5-12-0, 15 pts.), 3-1, on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium with 36,235 fans in attendance. Revolution captain Carles Gil tallied a goal and two assists, scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot before providing the service on goals by Matt Polster and Bobby Wood.

Carles Gil opened the scoring in the 27th minute after Polster drew a foul just inside the 18-yard box. Gil converted his 11th MLS penalty kick in 13 attempts. With his goal and two assists, Gil is now the fifth Revolution player to reach 80 career goal contributions with the club. The Revolution captain has now found the scoresheet in six of seven games played at Gillette Stadium this season and raised his total to four goals and three assists in his last six appearances. 

Polster tallied seven minutes later, heading in a cross from Gil’s corner kick in the 34th minute to double New England’s lead. Wood added to the scoring in the 51st minute, receiving a long through ball from Gil and calmly slotting home a finish to the near post past Inter Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender. Josef Martinez converted a penalty in the 84th minute to get Inter Miami on the board. 

Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrović recorded four saves in the victory, his final outing before joining up with the Serbia National Team ahead of two fixtures next week. Defender Christian Makoun, appearing in his fourth straight contest, will also depart this week to join the Venezuela National Team for a pair of friendlies.

The Revolution continue the three-game homestand on Saturday, June 17, hosting Orlando City SC. The 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium airs on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and on the radio at 98.5 The Sports Hub or 1260 AM Nossa Radio in Portuguese.

• New England extended its home unbeaten run to eight games (5-0-3) to begin the 2023 campaign, one game shy of the club's best mark of nine games set in 2005 and matched in 2015.
• The Revolution are among four MLS teams still unbeaten at home this season. 
• The Revolution evened the all-time series with Inter Miami, 3-3-0.
• New England’s 14 goals in the first half this season are second-most in MLS this season (Columbus – 19). 
• A season-high 36,235 fans were attendance for Saturday’s match, the most for a regular season game since July 14, 2018 (36,573).

• Carles Gil opened the scoring for New England in the 27th minute, converting from the penalty spot for the 11th time in his MLS career – one behind Shalrie Joseph (12) for second most on the club’s all-time list.
• Gil also provided assists on goals by Polster and Wood, giving him a team-high seven on the season. New England improves to 7-0-1 when Gil tallies a goal and an assist in MLS play.
• Gil (82) is one of five Revolution players with more than 80 goal contributions for New England in MLS play. 
• In six career appearances against Inter Miami, Gil has notched three goals and five assists. 
• Gil has now taken the most corner kicks in Revolution history, pushing his total to 478 to surpass Chris Tierney (477).
• The last time Gil recorded three goal contributions in a match was June 23, 2021 vs. New York Red Bulls (3 assists). 
• Matt Polster earned his 75th start in a Revolution uniform, marking the occasion with his first goal of the season and team highs in recoveries (10) and interceptions (6). Polster’s six interceptions are a single-game high for his Revolution career.
• Bobby Wood added his sixth goal of the season in the second half, tied with Gil for the team lead. 
• Gustavo Bou returned to the starting lineup for the first time since April 29, playing 65 minutes and registering a team-high four shots to mark his 75th MLS start. 
• DeJuan Jones became the 28th player in club history to surpass 10,000 minutes played across all competitions for the club.
• Emmanuel Boateng started a ninth straight match for New England as he made his 175th career MLS appearance.
