The Under-16s completed their weekend doubleheader with a 3-1 win over the New York Red Bulls – who finished in first place in the Generation adidas Cup Premier Division earlier this month. The Red Bulls entered the game with a 15-0-2 record, but left having seen their season-long unbeaten streak snapped by New England. The U-16s went ahead in the 23rd minute when Izaiah Jennings (Barrington, R.I.) played a ball through for Justin Rennicks (South Hamilton, Mass.) who struck his finish low and beyond the Red Bulls goalkeeper to make the score 1-0. Jennings also had a hand in the Revs’ second goal, receiving a pass from Rennicks in the New York area and having his shot saved, only for Andrew Barrowman (Marshfield, Mass.) to follow up and finish the rebound, making the score 2-0 in the 51st minute. The Red Bulls pulled a goal back through Omir Fernandez in the 60th minute but the Revs reestablished their two-goal lead six minutes later, when Jennings received a pass over the top from Matt Ranieri (Natick, Mass.) and chipped the goalkeeper to make the final score 3-1 New England. The Revs finished the game with 10 men after defender Daniel Jones (West Hartford, Conn.) was sent off after two quick yellow cards in second half stoppage time. Goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) made five saves in the win as the U-16s’ record improved to 8-3-5 for the season.

The goal was Ferreira’s team-leading seventh goal of the season. The U-14s missed a host of chances – the side recorded 14 shots in the game – before they doubled their lead in the 71st minute.
