FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All three of the New England Revolution Academy teams were in action last weekend, going 3-0-1 to close out the month of May. All three teams travelled to New York to take on Everton FC Westchester on Saturday, May 30, with the U-18s and U-14s earning 3-0 wins while the U-16s tied 0-0. The U-16s then hosted Seacoast United on Sunday, posting an impressive 4-0 victory. With that result, the Revolution Academy sides, who did not allow a goal all weekend long, finished the month with a combined record of 11-1-6.

The Under-18s bounced back from last weekend’s defeat to Montreal with a 3-0 win over Everton FC Westchester on Saturday. The Revs went 1-0 up in the 19th minute when TJ Soehn (Franklin, Mass.) found Bryant Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) in the Everton area, and the forward cut inside his man and curled a shot beyond the goalkeeper and into the corner. Goalkeeper Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) made several key saves to ensure the U-18s went into the halftime break with the lead before the Revs sealed the points late in the second half. Substitute Dylan Mott (Andover, Mass.) made the score 2-0 in the 79th minute when he volleyed in a corner kick from John Wilkins (Natick, Mass.) before scoring his second 10 minutes later. After receiving a pass from Aaron James (Amherst, Mass.), Mott dribbled between two Everton defenders and finished into the corner to make the final score 3-0. Aviza finished the game with three saves on his way to posting his second shutout of the season. The U-18s remain in third place and in a playoff position in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference Northeast Division with a 10-8-6 record for 36 points and 1.50 points per game.

Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) made three saves to push his season total for shutouts to 10.

Playing their second game in as many days, the Under-16s cruised to a 4-0 win over Seacoast United at Medway High School on Sunday. The Revs went ahead in the 13th minute when Alex Shterenberg’s shot from the edge of the area was deflected into the back of the net by a Seacoast defender. The score would stay 1-0 in favor of New England until the 60th minute when Aaron James played Santi Cardona (Revere, Mass.) through on goal, and the midfielder waited for the Seacoast goalkeeper to go to ground before scooping his finish into the back of the net, doubling the Revolution lead. The Revs went further ahead 10 minutes later, when Justin Rennicks played a through ball to substitute Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) who finished for his first goal at U-16 level. Cassemiro, who is the U-14s leading scorer, added a second two minutes later, when James dribbled past his man in the area before cutting the ball back to Cassemiro to finish into an empty net to make the final score 4-0. Goalkeeper Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.) made two saves to preserve his fourth shutout of the season and his team’s 15 in 24 games this season. The U-16s remain in third place and in a playoff position in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference Northeast Division with an 11-4-9 record for 42 points and 1.75 points per game.

The Under-14s earned a 3-0 win over Everton FC Westchester on Saturday, extending their unbeaten streak to 16 games. The Revs went 1-0 up in the 30th minute, when forward Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) was played in one-on-one with the Everton goalkeeper, and although his first attempt was saved, Blanco was on hand to tuck away the rebound for his ninth goal of the season. In the second half, the U-14s made sure of the win with two goals in a five-minute span from substitute Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.). First, just a minute after entering the play in the 50th minute, Dorogi pounced after the goalkeeper fumbled the rebound of a long-distance shot by Jonathan Ferreira (Ashland, Mass.) to score and make the score 2-0 in favor of the Revs. Then, five minutes later, Dorogi was again quickest to react after the goalkeeper had saved a long-range shot from Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) to finish his seventh goal of the season and make the final score 3-0. Revolution goalkeeper Ryan Manning (Middleton, Mass.) made two saves to preserve his fourth shutout of the season. The U-14s are now 19-2-2 on the season, including a 14-0-2 mark since their last loss in early November.

All three of the Revolution Academy teams are back in action this weekend – which will also be the final weekend of league action for the 2014-15 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. All three teams will first host Oakwood Soccer Club on Saturday, June 6 at Gillette Stadium before the U-18s and U-16s travel to Brooklyn, New York to take on BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday as both sides look to clinch a playoff berth.
The U-14s are scheduled to travel to Westfield, Indiana later this month for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase, where the Revs U-14s will face SC United Battery on June 19, fellow MLS Academy side the San Jose Earthquakes on June 20, and FC Golden State on June 22 at the Grand Park Sports Campus.
