FOXBOROUGH, Mass. ā€“ The New England Revolution Academy's Under-18 and Under-16 teams concluded U.S. Soccer Development Academy regular season play this past weekend at BW Gottschee in New York, N.Y. The U-18s finished the season with a mark of 15-3-6, winning the U-18 Northeast Division. The U-18s are one of seven clubs to win a division title out of the USSDA's 72 teams at the U-18 level.


Earlier this afternoon, the U-18s were drawn into Group A for the Group Stage of the USSDA Playoffs alongside Weston FC (Weston, Fla.), Bethesda SC (Bethesda, Md.), and Crossfire Premier (Kirkland, Wash.), while the U-16s will return to action during the U-16 Showcase and learn their opponents later this month. Both the U-18 Playoffs and U-16 Showcase will take place from June 22-26 in Westfield, Ind. The U-14 Showcase will also take place in Westfield Ind. and will take place from June 20-23.


In addition, three Academy players remain with the U.S. Youth National Teamā€™s Under-14 Camp in Zagreb, Croatia. Eliot Jones from New Britain, Conn., Morris Matthews from Cambridge, Mass., and Zach Sardi-Santos from Newton, Mass. are all currently with the national team squad. The camp began on May 31 and will run until Saturday, June 10.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Midfielder Joe Brito '99 (Bolton, Conn.) finished the USSDA regular season with 14 goals, leading the Revs' U-18s in the category.
  • Midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) recorded his Academy-leading 12th assist for the U-18s. Vang has 21 career assists in his three years as an Academy player.
  • For a second consecutive week, Izaiah Jennings '98 (Barrington, R.I.) assisted a goal scored by Tim Ennin '00 (East Hartford, Conn.) for the U-18s. Ennin's goal proved to be the game-winner in the U-18s' 3-1 victory.
  • Goalkeeper Eliot Jones '03 (New Britain, Conn.) and defenders Morris Matthews '03 (Cambridge, Mass.) and Zach Sardi-Santos '03 (Newton, Mass.) are currently participating in the U.S. Youth National Team's Under-14 Camp in Zagreb, Croatia from May 31-June 10.
