Revolution Academy Update: October 12, 2016

Academy U16s Action Shot

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s Under-16, Under-14, and Under-13 teams were back in action this past weekend. The Under-16s travelled to Chester, Pa. for three Generation adidas Cup East regional qualifying matches, where they played the New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union, and D.C. United. The Under-14s and Under-13s travelled to Rye, N.Y. for a pair of matches against New York Soccer Club’s Under-14 and Under-13 teams.


All four Revolution Academy teams return to the pitch this weekend. The Under-18s and Under-16s will host Empire United’s Under-18 and Under-16 teams at Medway High School in Medway, Mass. Meanwhile, the Under-14s and Under-13s will host Met Oval’s Under-14 and Under-13 teams at East Providence High School in East Providence, R.I.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Brandonn Bueno ’04 (Framingham, Mass.) recorded a hat trick for the Under-13s in the 6-0 win over New York Soccer Club’s Under-13s. The three goals are Bueno’s first scores as a Revolution Academy player.
  • Under-14 forward Caleb Williams ’02 (Attleboro, Mass.) and Under-13 midfielder Christian Bejar ’03 (Lawrence, Mass.) scored their first goals of the season. Williams registered a pair of goals during the 2015-16 season, while Bejar is in his first year with the Revolution Academy.
  • Midfielder/Forward Damian Rivera ’02 (Cranston, R.I) posted a pair of assists for the Under-14s in the 4-1 win over New York Soccer Club’s Under-14s. Rivera now has three assists on the year.
  • Forward Michael Balleani ’02 (Woburn, Mass.) registered his seventh goal in the win for the Under-14s. Balleani now leads all Academy players in goals scored so far this season.
  • Midfielder Matthew Leal ’03 (Newton, Mass.) and forward Jeremy Rodriguez ’03 (North Andover, Mass.) recorded their first assists of the year in the victory for the Under-13s.
  • Goalkeepers Nickolas Cardona ‘03 (Roxbury, Mass.) and Eliot Jones ‘03 (New Britain, Conn.) combined to post a shutout for the Under-13s.
