FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s Under-16 and Under-14 teams travelled this past weekend to St. John’s University’s Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y. for a pair of matches against New York City FC’s Under-16 and Under-14 teams.
The Under-16s, Under-14s, and Under-13s will be back in action this weekend. The U16’s will be at the Generation adidas Cup U17 Regional this weekend in Philadelphia where they will play New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union, and D.C. United in matches set for Friday, Oct. 7, Saturday, Oct. 8, and Monday, Oct. 10. Meanwhile, the Under-14s and Under-13s will travel to Rye, N.Y. to take on New York Soccer Club’s Under-14 and Under-13 teams on Sunday Oct. 9 in Development Academy play. The Under-18s and Under-16s will resume Development Academy play on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they host Empire United’s Under-18s and Under-16s at Medway High School in Medway, Mass.
WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
- Forward Jonathan Ferreira ’01 (Ashland, Mass.) recorded two goals for the Under-16s in the 4-3 loss to New York City FC’s Under-16s. The two goals mark Ferreira’s first time on the scoresheet this season.
- Midfielder Michael Balleani ’02 (Woburn, Mass.) registered his first career hat trick as a Revolution Academy player, leading the Under-14s to a 4-3 victory over New York City FC’s Under-14s. Balleani has now scored six goals through the first four weeks of the 2016-17 season.
- Defender Connor Haskell ’00 (Medfield, Mass.) recorded his first goal of the season for the Under-14s in the win. Forward Tim Ennin ’00 (East Hartford, Conn.) posted an assist on the goal, his second assist of the 2016-17 season.
- Midfielder Damian Rivera ‘02 (Cranston, R.I.) registered a goal and an assist in the victory for the Under-14s. The first-year Revolution Academy player now has three goals and one assist on the 2016-17 season.
