FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Zachary Herivaux has been called in to the Haiti Under-23 National Team for the upcoming CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship. The 19-year-old, Brookline, Massachusetts native signed with the Revolution on May 2, becoming the club’s third Homegrown Player. He is scheduled to travel to Southern California on Sunday to meet up with the rest of his teammates ahead of the start of the tournament, which begins next week.
Haiti qualified for the competition by beating Cuba 1-0 in the Olympic Qualifying Championship qualification final on Aug. 16 and have been drawn into Group B along with Costa Rica, Honduras and Mexico. They will face Honduras, Mexico and Costa Rica between Oct. 2 and Oct. 7 with the top two teams advancing to the tournament semifinals, which will be held at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. The two victorious semifinalists will advance to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro while the winner of the third place game will face Colombia in March for a berth in the Olympic Games.

Herivaux, who was named the UnitedHealthcare Revolution Academy Player of the Year in 2014, made his professional debut on June 17, coming on as a second-half substitute in New England’s U.S. Open Cup Third Round defeat to the Charlotte Independence. The 19-year-old came on for Daigo Kobayashi late in that match, becoming the third Homegrown Player to make his debut for the Revs, joining Diego Fagundez and Scott Caldwell.
Prior to signing with the Revs, Herivaux spent four seasons in the Revolution Academy, making 92 appearances with the U-16 and U-18 teams, tallying 12 goals and adding 14 assists. He last played internationally with Haiti at the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which was held in Jamaica from January 10-24. He appeared in all five of Haiti’s games at the competition, starting games against El Salvador, Cuba and Honduras.
