FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution will begin play in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the Fourth Round of the tournament, hosting the winner of the Third Round match between the Rochester Rhinos (USL) and GPS Omens(BSSL) on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will take place at Providence College’s Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium, and will mark the first time the Revolution have played in Providence since the Fifth Round of the 2014 U.S. Open Cup, which took place at Stevenson-Pincince Field at Brown University.
"We’re really excited to be able to bring this match to our fans in Rhode Island who have always shown the club tremendous support," New England Revolution President Brian Bilello said, "The Open Cup tournament is always a great opportunity for players and fans alike, and we look forward to having a strong home field advantage in Providence."
The Revolution and Rochester Rhinos have met six times in the Open Cup dating back to 2003. In those matches, New England has posted a 4-0-2 mark. Should the Revs play GPS Omens, it will mark the first ever meeting between the two sides, and will see Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell play against his brother, Keith.
