HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – New England Revolution II (8-5-3; 30 pts.; 3rd in East) will travel to Joe Davis Stadium to take on Huntsville FC (4-7-3; 18 pts.; 9th in East) on Sunday night. The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET and streams live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV with Marisa Pilla calling the action.
New England is coming off a 1-1 draw vs. Toronto FC II last week, earning the additional point after a 4-2 shootout victory. Forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith tallied his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the match while Marcos Dias, Jacob Akanyirige, Ben Awashie, and Nakye Greenidge-Duncan all buried their penalty kick opportunities. The match also featured goalkeeper Nico Campuzano entering in the 83rd minute as an emergency substitute. The second-year pro closed out the match in a field position to help seal Revolution II’s third shootout win of 2023.
“I just think it was a gutsy performance being short numbers and having a couple of injuries,” Head Coach Clint Peay said postgame. “The guys just put it all out there and left it on the field. I couldn't be prouder of the way they approached the match knowing that they were up against it with numbers and how they finished it.”
New England and Huntsville face off for the first time on Sunday night as Huntsville continues its inaugural season in MLS NEXT Pro. Revolution II currently sits in second in league rankings with 33 goals scored this season. Adebayo-Smith’s seven goals place him tied for fourth-most in the league while the striker continues to lead MLS NEXT Pro with 22 shots on target.
