FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (0-2-2, 2 pts.) will play the first of two games this week on Wednesday night, hosting first-place Greenville Triumph SC (5-0-1, 16 pts.) at Gillette Stadium. The contest kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET and is available nationally on ESPN+, and internationally on YouTube.
New England hosted Richmond in its most recent match last Friday, falling 2-1 at home. Revolution II forward Mayele Malango scored his first professional goal in the match with an assist from defender Ryan Spaulding. Goalkeeper Keegan Meyer became the latest Revolution II player to make his professional debut on Friday, making three saves in a 90-minute effort. Meyer was the 14th different New England player to make his professional debut this season.
“I thought we showed a lot of composure on the ball and the ability to move the ball in the first two phases of the attack,” said Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay. “But in the final third we lacked the ability to ask questions of their back line. We have to be more of a team that wants to get in behind, take some risks, and get numbers in the box.”
Greenville is unbeaten so far this season and has won three straight games heading into Wednesday’s match, all by 1-0 margins. The Triumph’s most recent victory came on Saturday at home over Fort Lauderdale CF, with the lone goal coming from Noah Pilato in the 67th minute. Greenville enters this week holding a shutout streak of 376 minutes, dating back to a Week 2 match against Richmond on July 25.
