SCHEDULE UPDATE | Revolution open Concacaf Champions Cup vs. Club Atlético Independiente in Panama on Feb. 21, host second leg on Feb. 29

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.  (December 18, 2023) – The New England Revolution will begin Round One of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup with an away match at Club Atlético Independiente on Wednesday, February 21 (8:00 p.m. ET), before hosting the second leg of the two-game series at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, February 29 (8:15 p.m. ET). CA Independiente, the three-time defending champions of Panama’s topflight, will host the opening contest at Estadio Agustín “Muquita” Sánchez in La Chorrera, Panama.

The complete 2024 Major League Soccer schedule will be revealed on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Prior to the opening match of the Round One series on February 21, New England is slated to begin preseason training in Foxborough in early January (date to be announced) before traveling to Florida for preseason training camp at IMG Academy. Additional details including a schedule of preseason friendlies will be available soon. 

Revolution Season Members are automatically opted in to purchase their same season seat locations for all Revolution home matches as part of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup. Ticket pricing and opt-out information will be communicated to members in January. Individual game tickets for the February 29 home match vs. CA Independiente will go on sale in January. Should the Revolution advance to the Round of 16, New England would host Costa Rican side LD Alajuelense in the first leg on Wednesday, March 6, before traveling for the return leg on Thursday, March 14. New England qualified for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup based on the club’s sixth-place finish in the MLS regular season standings. The Revolution last competed in the competition in 2022, exiting in the quarterfinals. The Revolution’s history in international play also features a 2008 North American SuperLiga title. Meanwhile, this is Independiente’s second appearance in Champions Cup, its first since 2019. The Panamanian side qualified for this year’s tournament after reaching the semifinals of the 2023 Central American Cup. Founded in 1982, Independiente is a six-time Liga Panameña champion, having won the last three league titles in Panama’s first division. 

The expanded 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup features 27 clubs from throughout North America, Central America, and the Caribbean in a five-round knockout tournament to be played from February to June. The competition's first four rounds (Round One, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals), all include two-leg home-and-away series, while the Final on Sunday, June 2 will be played as a single-leg match. The champion will qualify for the expanded 32-club FIFA Club World Cup 2025TM
