Three Academy Players Called in to U.S. Under-14 National Team

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Academy players Eliot Jones (New Britain, Conn.), Morris Matthews (Cambridge, Mass.), and Zach Sardi-Santos (Newton, Mass.) have been called in to the U.S. Under-14 National Team for an eight-day domestic training camp in Carson, Calif. The three players are among 48 players that have been called into the eight-day camp, which began on Sunday, Nov. 13 and ends on Sunday, Nov. 20. This marks the first time each of the three players have been called into a U.S. Youth National Team camp while playing for the Revolution Academy.


During the camp, the U-14 BNT will play two intra-squad matches on Nov. 16, as well as three matches against U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs on Nov. 19. The BNT will face Strikers FC at 3 p.m., LA Galaxy at 4:30 p.m., and Real So Cal at 6 p.m. (all times PT).


Jones, 13, has made 12 appearances in his two seasons with the Academy. This season, the goalkeeper has allowed just one goal over 308 minutes, giving him a goals against average of 0.23. The New Britain, Conn. product has recorded two shutouts and has made appearances in four additional clean sheets for the Under-13s.


Matthews, 13, has made 10 combined appearances in his first year with the Academy, including three games while playing up with the Under-14s. This season, the defender/midfielder has registered one assist in 644 minutes of action. The Cambridge, Mass. native has played a part in a combined six clean sheet performances for the Under-13s and Under-14s.


Sardi-Santos, 13, has made 10 appearances with the Under-13s in his first year with the Academy. The defender currently ranks third among Under-13 players with 499 minutes played this season. The Newton, Mass. native has played in six of the seven clean sheet performances recorded by the Under-13s this season.
