WASHINGTON, D.C. – The New England Revolution (7-9-8, 29 pts.) fell to D.C. United (7-9-6, 27 pts.), 2-0, at Audi Field on Sunday evening. D.C. United's Luciano Acosta scored the game's opening goal in 13^th minute, when he beat Matt Turner to the near post with a left-footed shot, and Zoltan Stieber doubled the home side's lead in the 89^th minute. The Revolution couldn't find an equalizer despite a second-half surge, and finished the match with 10 men after midfielder Scott Caldwell was issued a red card in the 73^rd minute.

Defender Michael Mancienne made his Revolution and MLS debut in tonight's match. Mancienne, who signed with New England on Aug. 3 after four seasons with Nottingham Forest in the EFL Championship, began training with the club on Wednesday. A veteran of the English Premier League and German Bundesliga, he recorded four tackles, 55 touches, and an 88.1 passing accuracy rate against D.C. United.

New England returns to action next Saturday, Aug. 25, when it visits the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium in the sides' third and final meeting of the season. • The Revolution fell to D.C. United, 2-0, on Sunday evening to move to 7-9-8 (29 points) on the season. The loss drops New England to 1-5-5 in away matches in 2018.

Mancienne Makes Revolution & MLS Debut

• Defender Michael Mancienne played all 90 minutes in central defense in his Revolution and MLS debut.
• Mancienne, who started training with New England on Wednesday, signed with the club on Aug. 3 after four seasons with Nottingham Forest in the EFL Championship. His resume also includes time with Chelsea and Wolverhampton in the English Premier League, and Hamburger SV in Germany's Bundesliga.

Caldwell Issued Red Card; Will Serve One-Game Suspension

• Midfielder Scott Caldwell was issued his first career red card in the 73^rd minute of tonight's match.
• Caldwell was officially sent off for a second yellow card, having also been booked in the 56^th minute for persistent infringement.
• The midfielder will serve a one-game suspension during New England's match against Philadelphia on Aug. 25.

Revolution Make Two Changes to Starting XI

• Revolution Head Coach Brad Friedel made two changes to the club’s starting lineup from its most recent match vs. Philadelphia on Aug. 11. Midfielder Scott Caldwell replaced midfielder Wilfried Zahibo, and defender Michael Mancienne replaced defender Jalil Anibaba.
