ORLANDO, Fla. – The New England Revolution (10-10-10, 40 pts.) played Orlando City SC (9-13-9, 36 pts.) to a 3-3 draw at Exploria Stadium on Saturday night. The Revs jumped out to a 3-1 lead by halftime, with goals from Gustavo Bou and Cristian Penilla, but two goals for Orlando on the other side of the break forced the Revolution to settle for one point. Following Saturday’s MLS action, the Revolution maintain seventh place in the Eastern Conference and sit only two points below fourth place with four games remaining in the club’s regular season.

The Revolution applied the pressure early, leading to an own goal from Orlando’s Tesho Akindele in the 15^th minute when he deflected Gustavo Bou’s cross past goalkeeper Brian Rowe. Nani then leveled the score at 1-1 for the hosts in the 22^nd minute, before Carles Gil put the Revs back in front with a pair of assists, raising his total to 14 on the season. His first helper came on Cristian Penilla’s chip of Rowe in the 34^th minute, with the second coming on an exchange with Gustavo Bou, who notched his seventh goal in 10 games. Orlando erased the Revs’ lead in the second half with goals from Dom Dwyer in the 47^th minute and Nani in the 54^th minute.

New England returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 when the club hosts Real Salt Lake on Kick Childhood Cancer Night. The match at Gillette Stadium kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

Revolution Play Orlando City SC to 3-3 Draw

• The Revolution (10-10-10, 40 pts.) battled Orlando City SC (9-13-9, 36 pts.) to a 3-3 draw on Saturday night, moving the team’s away record to 3-5-7 on the season.
• New England remains in the seventh and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference with four games remaining, one point ahead of both Montreal and Chicago, who each have 37 points and three games remaining.
• Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena moves closer to becoming the second head coach in MLS history to reach the 700-point milestone. He now owns 698 regular season points with a career record of 209-123-95.

New England Continues Impressive Away Form

• The draw moves the Revolution’s away record to 3-5-7 (16 pts.) on the season. The Revs have now claimed points in eight of the last nine away games (3-1-5), and 16 of the last 18 league games overall (8-2-8).
• The club’s three goals on the night raise the season total to 24 goals away from home in 15 games. The 24 away goals are currently third most in MLS.

Gil Raises Assist Total to 14

• Midfielder Carles Gil recorded the 13^th and 14^th assists of his debut season, sending Cristian Penilla through in the 34^th minute before teeing up Gustavo Bou in the 41^st minute. It marks Gil’s second two-assist game of the season (June 2 at LA).
• Gil’s 14 assists rank fourth in MLS and first among all newcomers. Of his 14 assists, 12 have been primary assists, tied with Michael Barrios for the league lead.
• With 23 combined goals and assists, Gil retakes the lead among all MLS newcomers, passing Toronto’s Alejandro Pozuelo (21).
• Through 30 MLS starts, Opta now credits Gil with 91 chances created, the third highest total in MLS and the most among newcomers. He recorded nine chances created on the night, setting a new single-game best.

Bou Tallies Seventh Goal in 10 Games

• Forward Gustavo Bou, making the 10^th start of his MLS career, scored the seventh goal of his debut campaign in the 41^st minute, assisted by Carles Gil.
• Bou’s seven goals rank second on the team behind Gil’s nine with four games remaining in the club’s Golden Boot race. Bou has played in 10 games, compared to Gil’s 30 starts.
• Bou now ranks tied for second in MLS with seven goals from the run of play since his debut on July 17.

Penilla’s Chip Puts Revolution in Front Early

• Forward Cristian Penilla gave New England a 2-1 lead in the 34^th minute, chipping Orlando City goalkeeper Brian Rowe off the assist from Carles Gil.
• The goal gives Penilla five tallies on the season to go with six assists in 26 league appearances. His five goals are tied for third most on the team, while his six helpers rank second.

First Own Goal of Season Gives Revs the Opener

• New England’s first goal of the evening came off an own goal by Tesho Akindele, who deflected Gustavo Bou’s cross into the net in the 15^th minute.
• The goal marked the Revs’ first own goal received since May 26, 2018 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC, a 3-3 draw.

Defender Brandon Bye Makes 50^th MLS Appearance

• Second-year defender Brandon Bye made the start at right back tonight, marking his 50^th regular season appearance with the Revolution to go with 42 starts.  
• The first-round 2018 MLS SuperDraft selection out of Western Michigan made 24 appearances, including 16 starts, and tallied one goal and two assists as a rookie.

Revolution Starting XI Sees One Change 

• The Revolution's starting lineup saw one change from the club’s last match on Sept. 7 at New York City FC, with Diego Fagundez replacing Wilfried Zahibo.
• Zahibo and Juan Agudelo were both suspended for the match due to yellow card accumulation.
